'Chala Gaavi' - Volunteering for Corporates
‘Chala Gaavi’ or ‘Back to the Village’ is a one-day immersive volunteering experience for corporates and groups. Participants travel to a nearby village, learn about its journey from drought to prosperity and offer shramadaan (volunteer labour) to do an agricultural activity such as sowing, deweeding or harvesting. They learn from farmers, work closely with the soil, and enjoy reconnecting with nature. This activity is carefully curated to ensure that it contributes towards sustainable agriculture and is not reliant on carbon-intensive practices. Volunteers also enjoy a hearty, local lunch and tour other interesting sites in the village.
This activity contributes towards team building, rejuvenates participants mentally and positively impacts farmer livelihoods. It is most suited for corporates and groups in and around Pune, Nagpur, Nashik, Ahmadnagar and Aurangabad. If you are an HR or CSR representative interested in knowing more, please write to lipi@paanifoundation.in.

Creating Dense Plantations
Paani Foundation has partnered with SayTrees to increase green cover in rural Maharashtra. So far, we have created 11 dense plantations in 11 villages, all on barren and unused common land. Over 1 lakh saplings have been planted in total across these villages, on a combined area spanning 14+ acres. The panchayat and villagers are equal partners in this initiative – responsible for sapling plantation as well as providing water and land. The cost for the land preparation, saplings, and other plantation material is supported via CSR or individual funds.
If you’d like to contribute to future plantations, you can donate to SayTrees here. If you’d like to fund an entire plantation using CSR or individual funds, please email paanifoundation@paanifoundation.in, and we would love to speak with you.
