What exactly does Paani Foundation do?

Our mission is to create a drought-free and prosperous Maharashtra, via a people’s movement on ground. Therefore, we mobilise, train and motivate villages in Maharashtra to work towards water conservation, water management and environment restoration. We host an annual competition (called the Satyamev Jayate Samruddha Gaon Spardha), in which villagers can apply learnings from the training and work towards creating the village of their dreams.

Where does Paani Foundation work in Maharashtra?

Around a thousand villages in these 40 talukas of Maharashtra are eligible to participate in Paani Foundation’s competition, the Satyamev Jayate Samruddha Gaon Spardha. These talukas are spread across 18 districts in the zones of North Maharashtra, Western Maharashtra, Marathwada and Vidarbha.

Does Paani Foundation work outside of Maharashtra?

Our work is currently across 40 talukas of Maharashtra. We don’t work anywhere else in India or outside of India.

Can Paani Foundation start a similar initiative in my state?

Our mission is to work towards a drought-free and prosperous Maharashtra, and are focused only on this geography. Organisations wishing to host similar competitions or initiatives in the state are free to use our films, books and other stories and material from our website as resources and reference points.

Can I be a part of the training that Paani Foundation conducts?

This will not be possible as our training is only open to villages participating in the Samruddha Gaon Spardha.

We invite you to watch our training films here, download our e-books here and watch stories of change on our social media platforms. Our books and films are in Marathi, and most films have English subtitles.

Can Paani Foundation conduct a training in my city?

Our trainings are conducted only in select centres located near the villages which are eligible to participate in the Samruddha Gaon Spardha. We don’t conduct trainings anywhere else, and we sincerely thank you for your interest.

Is Paani Foundation’s training material available online?

How can I join the Samruddha Gaon Spardha as a volunteer?

You can join the May 1 Mahashramadaan drive, where tens of thousands of people volunteer one day of time and effort. Sign up for our newsletter if you wish to be alerted when the registrations for May 1 are open.

Will I receive a certificate or letter of participation post the volunteering activity?

The ethos of our work is rooted in creating a people’s movement that is self-motivated and is geared towards a common, greater good. Since this is not a transactional activity, we do not provide certificates or letters of participation. We thank you for your support, and look forward to hearing about your experience as a volunteer.

Can I work as a volunteer at the Paani Foundation office in Mumbai or Pune?

Currently, we have no volunteering opportunities available at our offices. Please write to paanifoundation@paanifoundation.in with a short note about your work experience, and we will get back to you when a suitable volunteering opportunity arises.

How can I stay updated about volunteering opportunities post May 1?

For updates on future volunteering opportunities, we request you to sign up for our newsletter and follow us on social media. We will be sure to share details online as and when these opportunities are available.

Does Paani Foundation have any open job opportunities?

Can I donate to Paani Foundation?

Paani Foundation is a fully funded organisation, and therefore, we’re currently not accepting donations. We thank you for your interest and your offer of support.

How can I donate to a village participating in the Samruddha Gaon Spardha?

We are currently in the process of working out ways for you to directly support villages participating in the Spardha. As opportunities are available, we will share relevant information via our mailer, website and social media.

Will I receive a donation receipt?

Yes, the donation receipt and 80-G certificate will be shared with you. If you haven’t received this for a contribution you made in 2019, please email paanifoundation@paanifoundation.in.

Can someone from Paani Foundation speak at my event?

We request you to write to paanifoundation@paanifoundation.in with the details and agenda of the event. We will get back to you as soon as we can.

How can I interview Mr. Aamir Khan or Ms. Kiran Rao, or invite them for an event?

Mr. Khan and Ms. Rao receive a high volume of requests for their time and engagement. We forward every request to their teams. However, we cannot guarantee a response. Thank you for understanding.

As a journalist or storyteller, can I gain assistance for a story on Paani Foundation?

We request you to write to us with details on the aim and format of the story, distribution channels / publication, and the assistance you require from our end.
